Built by
Adolphson & Peterson in 2003, the Lakeside condos were designed to bring a
new standard of building excellence to Madeline Island.
The structure remains perhaps the best built on the Island. In every area, the building exceeds 2006 IRC national building code standards in regards to super insulation of walls, ceilings, and floors. Heated with a combination of in-floor radiant heat and
Mitsubishi high efficiency heating and cooling unit, this condo is designed for comfort, but at less cost than to heat an individual home.
Built of
TF System insulated concrete forms walls (ICF), and
Spancrete pre-stressed, pre cast structural concrete flooring system, the building is has almost zero sound transferrance between units.
The insulation 'R' value for the condo is rated significantly higher than any conventional stick framed structure with fiberglass insulation.
The siding is concrete
Hardi Plank, and has a fifty year product warranty. The roofing is among the highest grade architectural grade shingles available.
The condo was designed by Ashland Architecht,
C & S Design.
Together A & P and C & S were able to bring all of these products together across the ferry to Madeline Island. It was a remarkable accomplishment to do this type of heavy duty construction on an Island. Indeed, accomplishments like this are what has made A & P one of the
top 100 contractors in the nation.
The
Madeline Island Ferry Line desreves credit for a great job accomodating deliveries of engineered fill, concrete trucks, semis with pre-stressed concrete panels, and building materials.
Costs per square foot for this type of energy efficient, Green, concrete solid, quiet construction exceed that of standard stick built framing, but create an extraordinary value through longevity, peace mind, and energy efficiency.
